Nirvana was an American rock band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen (Washington), the singer-guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. The group has experienced a succession of drummers, the last and most important of them were Dave Grohl, who joined the group in 1990.

Burzum

Burzum is the solo project of Varg Vikernes (born Kristian Larsson Vikernes, AKA Greven Grishnackh/Count Grishnackh, currently legally named Varg Qisling Larsson Vikernes). The band was initially known as Uruk-Hai, Varg Vikernes’ first band which he formed in 1988-89. He changed the name to Burzum (meaning “darkness” in Black Speech, the language of Mordor in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings) in 1991 after the disbanding of Satanel, a band he founded with Abbath of Immortal.

Lyriel is a folk metal band formed in Gummersbach in 2003. They describe their style as ‘dark romantic Celtic rock’ and can be easily compared to Blackmore’s Night and various symphonic metal bands, although they do not copy these bands; they place more emphasis on medieval sounds. They are also notable for frontwoman Jessica Thierjung’s vocals, which add a unique touch to their already distinguishable sound.

Jeff Loomis

Jeff Loomis was the lead guitarist for the ground breaking metal band Nevermore. A player of many influences and styles, Loomis is often seen as one of the world’s most talented and gifted metal guitarists. Initially started as a 3-piece, when it came time to record a demo in 2000, a second guitarist was added. Upon A Burning Body was started by accident “A Side project gone wrong.” 

These San Antonio, Texas natives mix brutal breakdowns with catchy two steps and heavy blast beats. After changing many members over time, they finally found a concrete line up. They have managed to dominate the Texas metal scene, and earned themselves a signing to the Sumerian Records family. They are known for their intensely brutal and fast sections combined with breakdowns and gang chants to match and top the best in the game.
